2008 Atomic Orange ZO6
Would you buy a Used 2008 C6 Z06 with only 4000km $64,000. or a new 2010 GS Coupe for sale on Employee pricing special for $69,000??????:confused

How old is the Z06? If it is a year or two old I would go with the Z06.

Yeah Sorry it is a 2008.

Yeah Sorry it is a 2008.

Do you know how the Z06 has been cared for? 4k/km is around 3k miles, correct? Which means if ya go with the Z06 you still have bumper to bumper warranty to have anything corrected *if needed*. I can say this: I've owned the LS3 and now the LS7. I had bought a new '09 Z51 Roadster w/NPP last year (my first Vette). I loved that car. BUT, I had told myself I wanted a "427", at the time did'nt 'feel' as though it was in my budget so I got a loaded Z51 Vert. So what I have to say is this;

It's your money and ONLY YOU know what you want. MY mistake was NOT getting what I wanted in the first place and that was a 427......it cost me MORE money in the end.....buying TWO new cars....don't make my mistake ....get what YOU want the first time if ya can afford it......(I could have the first time, it was my "first" Vette and decided the LS3 was what I wanted, but all along just kidding myself because the 427 is what I've wanted since I looked at one the first time in '08)...If you desire performance then, ya got that w/either engine. Just "how much" performance YOU want and how much YOU wanna pay/afford. I personally would go w/Z06 if ya know about it. It's already taken it's depreciation hit and if owner only drove it 3k miles in 2 years, then, thats a good buy because of deprec. AND it's a 427 still under warranty.....bet there's nothin wrong w/it what so ever. I like the Grand Sport as well. I almost bought one instead of '09 Z51....the coupe has a handbuilt LS3 as well (if ya get the Z52 pkg w/ manuel trans I think it is). Sooo, it's up to you. Do you want a 427???? Or, do you want a 378? BOTH are fine engines. The 427 is faster, but unless you want to track w/the car, that really don't matter, BOTH are fast enough to get you a ticket :) . Truely, if it's "racecar mantra" you seek then get Z06. It's the lightest Vette built (even lighter than ZR1) w/best power to weight ratio (followed VERY closely by ZR1-according to brochure). But, if just owning a fast car w/killer looks that's also track ready (and it's a Vette) then get the GS. If wanting to make the best deal money wise, then it's Z06 (this is assuming you know how the car has been cared for and the way it's been driven). Because depreciation already taken the biggest hit (and the Z06 cost nearly $20k more -compared to a coupe GS and Z06 new prices). Soooo....there ya have it.....
It's ALL up to YOU :D Good luck and let us know which way you went and post a pic....:beer

I'd go for the GS .Most Z06's have had some hard run time even in 3000 miles .Resale value for Z06's has been terrible ,actually terrible for ever thing lately.Just look at a C5 zo6 vs a std coupe of the same year and comparable mileage .

He's correct.

That's why I say in my thread above "if ya know about the car"....this bears importance "in my book".
Thanks Vetteboy bringing this to front. It's definitely a point that would 'break' me from getting the Z06....:upthumbs:v

Thanks!

No I don't know the ZO6 owner but it's condition says a lot to me.

Firstly it has the 3m mask on it. Would a guy who bought it to trash it go to the expense of putting the mask on it????

Carfax shows it was purchased in Sept. of 08 so the 09's were out. It was traded in March of 10 to a BMW dealer who then swapped it back to the original dealer who I am talking to so effectivly the guy only drove it one summer. 4000 km in one summer is not much (Remember I am in Calgary) I don't feel it was driven in any weather were road salt was in play since the alluminum suspension castings all look clean and fresh.

Also the rear tires still have the nubs on them so I don't feel he diid any smoke shows.

But don't you always roll the dice on a used car. It is being sold at the top Corvette dealer in town and they have gone over the car makes me feel good and it still has warrenty.

I just bought a new GS 3LT with nav, npp, chrome wheels for $55881 - it's new, has a warranty. There are plenty of deals out there - I vote to go new.

Do whatever is going to make you happy! If the ZO6 is what you want then go for it. The warranty is about up, you might want to negotiate an extended warranty in your purchase or consider purchasing it yourself.

Why would you buy a 3 year old, used Z06 for 64K when you can buy a new one for the same price?

I'd buy a GS vert with paddles.

Remember, I have a Z06 too!

I would prefer the Z06 - but not at that price! Check KBB - 64k is way overpriced.

If you've never owned a Z06, you should.:D

Since you asked.....

Let's see - GS Coupe vs. Z06. Man, why would you go with the one that looks like the Z when you could get the real thing? Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the GS, but there's just no better feeling than those 505 ponies under full song.

Good luck with your decision.

:lou

ZO 6 with a better price and 505 hp. You can drop in a supercharger for around 8-10k and have ZR1 range hp. GS are nice but 505 ponies do call pretty loud and clear, "Drive me!"

Good luck and have fun!

I agree that price is steep but I am figuring he's talking Canadian dollars...I don't know if values are that much diff or not. I remember back not so long ago when I was trying to decide on my first Vette and looking at used Z06 prices in my area of country and a 2 yr/old low miles 'Z' was in high 50's. Conversely a coupe was 10-12k less. GS was not around then (in '8/9).

oh yeah, where I live, just bought a new Z 72,300 (with sales tax 78k). No holdback. 2LZ w/nav and spoiler and tintcoat paint and chrome 'Z' wheels.

If the condition is good I'd take the Z06. I have a 2008 Coupe and I love it but my next I hope will be a Z06.:D

Although the decision is really yours to make, I would take the ZO6. A ZO6 is always a ZO6. It's not a coupe with a ZO6 body...no offense GS folks!! The car has obviously been cared for with very low miles. Do it! You won't be sorry, I'm sure!!!

:upthumbs Nice color.....you will be VERY happy with a 'Z.....sure made my day....I had a '09 LS3 Z51 Roadster which I sold to replace w/Z06....they are COMPLETELY different cars!! The day I bought my new 'Z was the first time I had driven one as well. I was very surprised and VERY happy....One bad ass ride....sooo happy I did....:D :beer :v
