NEEDED-UPDATED TIRE INFO

I just read the tire info under 93 Ruby Red forum and its great BUT IT"S 6YRS old! going by date of thread. Does anyone have any updated info or where can you get Eagle F1s or any other GOOD tires for a 93' C-4 coupe. I want to stay w/ factory size. Thanks to two gentlemen who responded to TIRES.

Is your '93 a Z07 with the 275/40/17 front and rear or a 'standard' suspension version with the 255/40/17 and 285/40/17 combination?

I'm guessing your '93 has the small front tires. The 255/285 combination is harder to find.

The Z07 cars have the 9.5 wheel all around and use the 275/40/17 tire and there are lots more of them available from all companies.

You can use the 275/40/17 in place of the 285/40/17 on the rear. For the front, you'd need to buy a pair of regular 9.5" wide wheels (replace the front narrow 8.5 wheels) and install 275's on all 4 corners.

Tire Rack shows a lot of tires available in the 275 size inclucing GY D3s and GSs.

There's an option for you.

I have the standard 255/45zr17 frt and 285/40zr17 rear and i really do not want to go smaller. I want to stay w/ stock tire size. Tire rack said they have nothing to fit my sizes. last week they did but who knows.

I checked TireRack and they showed Michelin PS A/S in your sizes in stock.

Also, there ain't that much difference between the 275/40 and teh 285/40 but that's your call.

urleycay, Have you tried http://www.treadepot.com/ ? I searched by vehicle type using a 93 corvette coupe, and it listed several tires in the sizes you were after.

thanks, i did some checking and i can get a set of something but not goodyears or bf.goodrich. who makes Kumho? do you know or anyone know?
i just can't picture myself putting non-american made tires on the American Sportscar.

I just got 2 275/40-17 from discount tire for $214. They are Falkens,, they also sell other brands and the shipping was free. I found them when looking on ebay.Prices are good. I have an 88 coupe with the Z52 suspension

I replaced Goodyears on my 1988 with Kumhos. The Jag dealership who mounted them, said they spun up perfectly the first time. Offered great traction (dry/wet), and even after 15,000 miles, tire wear was minimal. When I sold this vette, the new owner had commented that several C4s he looked at had Kumho brand tires which he never heard of before. When I replace the tires on my 1989 in a few years, Kumhos will be on the top of that list. Tire technology has come a long way.

PS: The last several relays purchased came from India and/or China.

If you want to know about Kumho tires go to www.kumhousa.com. I put a set of Kumho ASX tires on my Ruby last spring and have been very happy with them. I ran them pretty hard at The Tail of the Dragon and was pleased. Good traction and very quiet. I, too felt funny about putting these tires on my American Vette, but for the savings and the quality, I soon got over that. I ordered the tires from Tire Rack.

Thanks everyone! looks like i am going shopping monday for some Kumho's don't know if I'll find them in my small town but two online companys recomended by responders are offering good prices and FREE shipping. Now for the shocks, HUMMMMM - KYG or Monroe?
