Neighbor Got a New Audi Vert ....WOW

hey there,
beefier components=more space,more money and the over priced car would cost even more .they never intend on adding any more power to there wannabe sports cars,there trying to sell comfort,200ft lbs is nothing.a stock c5 has almost twice that much,STOCK,and many of us do not leave it stock for long.interior;LOL why is this even in the c6 forum,it should be in the wannabea sports car forum.like i said,my friends wife had a recall on there trans 2 months after getting the car,the corvette would eat these trannys for lunch,then all you would hear is"the corvettes are unreliable blah,blah,blah."later,Todd.

Porsche has had a Tiptronic in its 911 for several years. Granted it is not available in the 400+ HP twin turbo, but it is available in the 320HP, 273ft-lb normally aspriated models. Maybe I've missed the point of the transmission thread and Porshe's Tiptronic is different from what Audi is using.

As to interiors, you get what you pay for. Corvette is not the performance bargain because they feel like selling the car cheaper. If you want a BMW/Porsche/Audi interior, you will pay the price for it and this would push the price of the Corvette out of many people's reach. This has always bothered me about Corvette. I've had better interiors in Honda's that were 10 years older. But then again, the Honda didn't have the grin factor when mashing the go pedal. :D

I hope there is a vast improvement in the interior of the C6. While I think the C5 is much better than my C4 it could still be better IMO.

im glad they sacrificed on the interior to keep the cost down,you can always upgrade the interior later,a solid performance package should be first,i agree this makes the car more affordable and im glad they were thinking.my interior is almost perfect.only problem i have is the leather seats arent that great,but thats why wet okole makes seat covers,everyone else compliments my interior,but the vette is a world class sports car-the rest are not.later,Todd.
 
Yea boys, but C5 is pushing 60K now and for 60K I want it all!

thats probably what the guy in the 95,000 mercedes is saying as his doors got blown by a c5,"i paid almost a 100,000 grand for this car,i want everything"at least the interior is nice
 
Fair enough, but I think you buy a Benz for different reasons. I'm not saying that you buy a Vette for its luxurious appointments, but at a $55k level, I have to say they MUST make the interior nicer, or they are not going to be able to compete.
 
No matter what the car is/does for the 55K+ price point the car must meet certain quality standards not just "go fast" and look pretty, and the C5 isn't there! If the C6 is not up to standards of its peers at its price point it will be a total failure in my eyes no matter how many ponies are under the hood or how big the wheels and tires are etc. It still has to be of the quality inside of at least a 40K Lexus or Audi. NO Vinyl/Leather seats, NO cheesy Carpeting, NO Painted rubber pebble grain plastic, NO Condom covered switch gear, Plastic ash tray door with knife sharp edges. This stuff is just CHEAP TRASH that belongs in a KIA not a 60K car period. Im really shocked that GM did not fix these C5 short comings long ago. Just the fact that they ignored these things but kept bumping the price to the sky tells me something. The Corvette is not a muscle car its a "total" package and right now the "package" is one ball short!
 
name one car in this price range that has it all.it took alot of engineering and money to make the c5 what it is,they have to make money on a production car like this.speng 20,000 dollars more and get a viper,drive it for a week and you will beg for your c5 back.
 
Well, your right. I really can't name another 60K car that comes with vinyl seats. Not to many out there with manual convertible tops, and old fashioned push rod V8 engines. There is nothing in C5 that is High Tech. You are right there really are not to many car makers making cars like these any more for 60 grand!
 
How about the BMW M3, it has performance on Par with the C5 Coupe and the quality of the interior is excellent. I also agree with CFour, I think the C4 had a nicer interior than the C5. However, the C5 is ergonomically and room wise superior.
 
the M3 bought technology from g.m. ya the rear independant suspension thats right the c4.my friends m3 is a slow pig with peeling paint and water leaks.at the track he ran 14.9 just ahead of the fart can hondas,my car ran 13.4 .now the bmw x5 or something like that is a good performance car,but the price is wat up too,the c5s pushrod v8 can compete with the big dogs in the world of cars that cost 3 times as much,and break and corner,and whats that aftermarket mercedes v-12, the one i smoked on the highway,real high tech,just high dollar.

i stand corrected.my friend educated me today,i dont know that much about bmw,his car(nickname slow-pig) is a Z3 not M3.he said M3 is a much better car but wont accelerate,corner,or top speed the c5,no slouch thou.the car i was thinking of is not the X-5 its the X-8,he thinks its 6 fiqures$$$$$$.anyway im bailin out of this thread now,i love my c5 with more mods to come,have a good evening,Todd.

And........you own two of these Vettes? You should just go buy an Audi or Lexus and have $ left over for gas. LOL:D
