see...even I buy cars that are mistakes!!! if they had asked me when I was going to Rose Hulman (just down the street 70 miles from the track owned by the Hulman family called Indianapolis), I would have told them RED!!!! Then no mistakes....I graduated from Rose in '78 and watched the 500 qualifying from turn 2.....those were the fun days!

that is exactly what I thought....heck with that lift enlarge the GARAGE for more....after you get the C1 you will need a C3...then of course the C4...and top it all off with aC6.....

Jim enjoy the new car.

the C5's are great cars. A Z06 is even better .

They get up to the triple digits speeds real fast. Our older cars you know your going fast and need to be carefull, but with the newer cars the go real fast in a hurry. Quicker then my brain's "saftey valve" can re-act and say to slow down this is BAD. The cars are very stable/secure at speeds and dont give you the sence of danger and your going too fast.

I dont know if the Z06 has traction control on it, but my wifes C5 does. I made a mistake of turning it off one day for a spirited drive to see what it actually does. The best way to describe the car with out traction control is slippery and hard to manage.

I also find the C5 a pleasure on long drives

Z06's have the active handling and the traction control....

active handling will save your life IMHO, these cars have a ton of power and will pull right up and beyond the red line, if you don't add a shift light it can be easy at times to bump the rev limiter (having done it several times in third gear)...

traction control tries to keep the wheels spinning at the same rate front and rear and when you burn out and they aren't, the TC will inhibit the throttle to some extent to get the wheel spin under control.

to turn off just TC and leave AH on, push the AH button down and hold it until you see the information show up on the dash area, it will tell you Competitive Driving mod ON, meaning AH on, TC off. If you do just the quick push of the button EVERYTHING is off and IMHO that is not good. Some of the guys over at Z06Vette.com drive their cars all the time with everything off (I think it is the macho feeling they want), some others always drive in the competitive mode and for the most part everyone else leaves the AH/TC on all the time.

So if you want to do a real good burn out, then you need to get it in either Competitive Driving mode OR turned off all together. Sharons C5 convertible scoots, but when I go from the Vert to the Z06, I fell like I was standing still in the Vert. Vert is stock and the Z06 has had a better breathing tube/filter added to it.

I would suggest that you go out to Spring Mountain and take the 3 day driving course where you can really open up on a track with some driving instructions. After I did that, I had a whole different respect for what the cars can do and how little skill I really have when it comes to driving these beasts! I left the AH/TC on while on the track and turn 3 ALWAYS caused the AH to become active and I could hear the brakes chattering trying to save my butt.

Enjoy!!!

I promise to get pics posted,I've been out of town since thursday(Barry)
(IH2LOSE)I agree that this car has a whole more potential power than I'm used to.The 67 is sooo loud when I get on it,I cant react the way I used to.I dont think I'll be driving in the triple digits very often.
(Herb)I can tell you've read your owners manual..I dont even know what the AH button is or does.Thanks..I do now.Spring mountain sounds like alot of fun BUT I remember on older thread that pointed out that State Farm Ins. wont pay any claims if your is even close to a track. As far as a burn-out,Herb I dont think I've done one of those for 25 years.I'm just having a great time just looking at them in my garage. As far as the lift,I think I'm going w/ the same model that JohnZ(Cytech Double Park)its nice lookin too..
Pics on the way-thanks all for the responces..Jim

at Spring Mountain, for the classes you use their cars....your's stays at home....so no problem with your insurance.....it is good to have a few more skills to fall back on when driving that Z....it can be a handful if you are not careful......pictures????

..Jim
Just wait until you drive it, triple digits comes up rather quickly and it is much more stable at speed then your Midyear. I hit triple digits quite often and mine is down 60 HP from a Z06
