New article, no pictures

This past weekend I was talking to the owner of a local Chevy dealship. He and about 200 other dealers throughout the country were recently invited to a preview showing of the new C6. GM trucked the C6 in, did the showing, boxed it up, and then immediately sent it back home - wherever home may be. Obviously, no cameras were allowed.

He's seen it first hand and said that GM did a great job comouflaging the cars we've all seen in various spyshots. Other than the frame the C6 is a completely different car than the Cadillac XLR. In comparison to the C5 it has a higher body line which makes the car look closer to the ground than it actually is. He also said that the C6 will have 435HP and one year later GM will roll out the Z06 version with over 500HP. That was about the extent of technical details that GM disclosed to these dealers.

I guess take this information with a grain of salt...

"GM will roll out new economy technology that will shut down half of the Vette's cylinders in cruise mode, which could mean highway fuel ratings of 30 or more miles per gallon."

Ah, I hope this isn't true. :(

Interesting. Is that the same technology that the Cadillac Sixteen has? Obviously they won't be making the Caddy 16, but there are rumors of a 12 cyclinder Caddy coming out with the same technology.

It would be the exact same technology that the Caddy Sixteen has. The engine in that car is actually two fused Gen III small blocks that was put together by Katech (the folks that build the C5R small block).

My gas mileage is outstanding now as well. I jokingly call the Vette my "economy car" because it needs less maintaining and fuel than any other car that I've owned. I have mixed feelings on having a Corvette with displacement on demand, but if they do it right everything should be fine. The ZR-1 is one of my all-time favorite cars, and it has an entire set of fuel injectors that were "on demand" and that car turned out fine.

Did the dealer speak of the interior, or did he even get to see it on the inside?

He didn't mention anything about the interior, but I imagine the article at Auto World Weekly will probably be accurate; not to many major changes, just higher quality materials.

Good Link with lots of info. Thanks.

And here is a picture of the baby in bra and diapers:
