NEED HELP. I AM INSTALLING NEW C4 PRE MOUNTED LEATHER SEATS AND I CAN'T GET THE TOP ON. IS THERE I SPECIAL TOOL? ITS VERY DIFFICULT! BOTTOMS ARE EASY BUT, BACKS ARE HARD.

I will read your update on how the installation went as I am considering installing new seat covers and foam on my 94 convertible. Did you do a lot of research and then choose Ecklers over the other dealers that offer them (MAMW, Corvette Central, Al Knoch, etc) or was there a different reason? MAMW says that the difficulty of DIY is number 3 with 1 being easy and 5 very difficult.

I bought my leather seat covers, NOT fake leather from ebay and they were about $260. Very nice, they have a thin foam backing and perferated just like the originals. The ebay seller does mostly leather seats for motorcycles. I bought the foam on ebay and I am currently mounting them with hog rings. So far they fit great and smell good too, my old foam got wet and now smell a little funny. To put the backs on reach in behind the foam and install the bottem clips first then do the top ones just bend the top part of the seat foam back a bit and feel around back there, probably easier than using that tool.

I recently swapped my driver and passenger seats to even out the wear. I found that a forked rod was a big help. I just used a socket wrench with no socket on it, wish I had thought of the cut screwdriver. But I also found that those seats can take more squeezing than I thought. At first I was going a little too easy on them.

Its one of those jobs that seems a lot easier after its over than while you were doing it.

Have Fun.

HEY! I INSTALLED THE NEW LEATHER MOUNTED SEATS AND IT WAS A LITTLE BIT OF WORK. YOU NEED THE TOOL OR YOU CAN MAKE ONE: TAKE AN OLD LONG SCREWDRIVER AND KNOCH A "V" AT THE TIP. THIS SO YOU CAN SQUEEZE THE RODS INTO THE CLIPS ON THE BACK. THERE ARE FOUR. ON A SCALE OF 1-5 DIFFICULTY "3.5". I BOUGHT FROM ECKLERS. NO PARTICULAR REASON. NOW THAT I LOOKED AROUND I SHOULD HAVE SHOPPED MORE. CORVETTE CENTRAL IS A LITTLE LESS EXPENSIVE. FYI THE SEATS ARE A BIT STIFF. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the reply about the installation.
