Here is a recent press release from Callaway Cars:

For immediate release:
Callaway GTO Product Development
If you happen to see a sinister-looking Phantom Black GTO roaming the streets of southeastern Connecticut, you might not want to offer a challenge. It just might be Callaway’s latest product development mule. Or would that be “Goat”?
Using much of the LS1 and LS6 engine technology developed for their 480 and 550 bhp SuperNatural" Corvettes, Callaway’s engineers have been toiling over their LS1-equipped 2004 Pontiac, transforming it into one quick GTO. All of their efforts are intended to support Callaway’s introduction of a family of performance products for the new Pontiac. The company also plans to build turn-key Callaway/GTO’s, with powertrain, suspension and body enhancements accomplished with Callaway’s “form equals function” system approach. A 6.5L/510bhp LS-series engine (just happens to equal 389 cubic inches) is being considered for one version of the Callaway/GTO as the engineers continue to hone in on optimum engine displacement.
No GTO bandwagon jumper, Callaway’s history with the new Pontiac actually begins with their work with Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). Over the last three years, Callaway has built over 1,200 special high performance 5.7L LS1-based engines for HSV’s GTS (the Australian ancestor of the new GTO), boosting power output from 260 bhp to 402 bhp. In addition, several HSV concept cars have been powered with Callaway-built large displacement LS-series engines, of the 6.2L to 6.8L variety.
Committed to its environmental responsibilities, Callaway has achieved federal emissions compliance on several new products for GTO already, and is currently pursuing California Air Resources Board Executive Order exemptions for full 50-state compliance."
