New carpet or spray dye

I recently pulled the rear carpet out of my 84. It had been sprayed black by the previous owner, but the original color is tan. I now am contemplating whether I should spend 350 on a new carpet set for the whole car or if I should power wash the carpet with a pressure washer and then repaint it with tan spray. I know it would probably look decent at first, but does the spray usually last very long?;help

I don't think Tan would cover black...

You are right I tried brushing off the black but some still remained. The black showed through, so I decided for now to just paint the back carpet black, and repaint (spray dye) the tan carpet up front. Not too sure how its gonna look. I might just bite the bullet and buy the carpet set.:bar

Go New....

I installed new this winter...its amazing how good it looks when done...get a really sharp razor knife and take your time...its cut real close ...this is a '73 i am talking about, but my opinion is to go new...you will not regret it....

Vettedude...with the 84 and newer cars...their is nothing to cut...everything is preformed

There is some cutting involved. For example, the speaker holes for the door panel carpet strips, the console sides, the holes for the roof holders above the rear wheel wells, the strip behind the seats, and the door sills.

Hate to say it, but if you can swing it,Go new, I have never had great results dying carpet!!!!!

there is a few spots to cut...

its made really close...seat belt holes and small tweaks here and there.
