you can buy it at Lowe's.
it's approx 1/8" or a little less thickness i'd guess.
no adhesive on it but go buy a can or two of the 3M trim adhesive and use that.

This info is late in coming since it sounds like your project is already done. Others, my find the following of interest: I replaced all the carpet in my 81 in Oct 05. After triming to fit; used 3M spray Trim Adhesive Clear # 08074, 1 can did the job. Liked the 3M, spray both surfaces, stays tackly from 30 sec to 20 minutes, which means you can work it to get it smooth, without the adhesive setting up too fast, but will hold the carpet inplace nicely after only a couple of minutes. Press & smooth it in place, hold for for couple minutes and then move on to the next piece. Note; I did the back first and the front a couple hours later to insure the back was secure enough to allow working around it without fear that it would move. I used carpet from Mid-America Motor Works (MAMW), needed only slight trim along the edges, fit and laid in real well. I found a big help was to take a lot of digital pictures, for reference as how things were positioned, location of mtg screws, seat belt straps, rear speaker assys and for the history of the before & after. My storage doors frame was all busted up and needed replacement as well. I went with a complete, ready to install pre-assembled frame / door assembly from Corvette Mike. Concurrently, I also replaced my radio pwr antenna assy, which required bi-passing the OEM antenna control relay, since the one from MAMW has a built-in up/down control. See my posting in the C3 Tech section for more info on OEM antenna control by-pass method I used or send me E-mail if you need detailed how to (cddmhr@peoplepc.com). I hope you will also feel all the work was worth it, after you see how good your baby looks with new carpet. Good Luck!
