Sorry But that one hurts to see
Fender-cutoff-dr-rear2-500.jpg

Kinda like seeing your grandma in her undies You know its there but you just did not want to ever have to look at them

Call me a freak but frame off, motor out,Body paint stripped, car in a million peices NO PROBLEM.But seeing a vette with the fenders off or cracked fiberglass is sacgroligous to me.
You know ok to see a naked breast,But have a little kid attached and Im freeked out.

I am almost embarrased to admit to it but no more fenderless pictures for me it gives me the willies

You know I have seen that white carseveral times prior and I just cant figure out that lower spoiler it just looks like a giant wind break. How did that help the car perform on the track ?

C2s have a real tendency to lift at speed, especially '63-'64 like in the this picture here.

I talked to Mike Donohue about that last year and I believe it holds quite well against under car air pressue.

His record on the vintage Racing courses should lend some credence. :D

'65, '66, and '67 opened up the side fender gills thus improving the under-hood pressure significantly.

I wonder if that under-hood pressure is why he's got the hood cracked open a few inches or if the hood is being forced up?

Mac, I suspect that Mike had it cracked open to help cooling more than anything.

That makes sense... so why not install sidegills or cut a pair of grills (a la 63, only functional) and make good venting? It's not like he's planning to make a trailer queen out of her. Another hole or two won't count against it in the kind of judging he's likely to see!! :L

Maybe his wife is heavy into NCRS. :D Besides, the hood crack looks
:cool

YES MUCH MUCH BETTER

Thats what I have been waiting to see but your angle is deceving because they dont look so wide is the3 other side still on that you can give a rear shot of the differences ?

Thanks again it has to be a great feeling after all that looking, then waiting for the fenders to actually see them on the car.I know I am happy to see em .I am even excited about seeing the body on the frame again.Good luck and keep us posted

Does this help?

Let's put it this way. The arrow represents the approximate position of the stock fender line.

A guy who's seen a lot of C2s in his day walked into the body shop today and said, "Holy S--t! What size wheels are you putting under that thing?" :crazy

Even with out the arow that photo shows how much wider the fenders are.I think its just so cool that you decided on the ralley wheels its going to seem stock at first glance and then your going to have to look again and say what the heck

I think the new fenders look fantastic! :cool Kinda subtle and outrageous at the same time.........

Can't wait to see the body in person

PS: '67 did you go to the Wilson Nibblet show?

Here's some new scanned images sent to me by Richard B. who owns a beautiful red '66 coupe (not the car in these photos) of the same fenders going on my car.

REMINDER: The whole reason for removing my existing fenders, (which I added flares to in the late 1960s to accommodate racing wheels and tires), was to get the very prominent mid-year belt line back on to the car. By that I mean the line that you look at all around the middle of the car (see arrows).

From a side view, the changes are hardly noticeable....and most importantly, the belt line is intact....unlike the older flare design that broke the belt line above the tires, as in the following small photo of my car.

From this angle, you start to notice the flare. These fenders go "around" the tires....not "up and over" them.

And, this is the view that most people will have of them. :D Can you say, "Coke Bottle"?

The front and rear chrome bumpers will be back on.

Photos of more body work coming soon.

Just so happens that I have some new photos that I'll add to this thread this evening. Progress is being made.......slowly but surely.
