Hey gang. First off, I hope that I don't get in trouble from the administrators for this. I was at the Firestone dealer yesterday getting a faulty tps replaced, and the manager asked me to look at a set of new tires. This is the person who sold me my 2nd set of Firehawk FZ50's. The tires he asked me to look at were actually for a C6, But were the new Firehawk runflats. Agressive tread design, and an all around good looking and according to the specs, a well handling tire. What really caught my attention, was the price. $1200 and some change for all four. I paid almost that for 2 rear tires (plus 4 wheel alignment). Tires have always been a great conversation piece when it comes to Corvette owners, that I thought that I would let everyone know. Might be a tire for folks that are looking for new rubber, to take a look at.

Firestone Wide Oval RFT

Here's the tire. Designed specifically for
the C6 Corvettes.

The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT w/UNI-T is Firestone's Ultra High Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for the drivers of Chevrolet C6 Corvettes. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is designed to provide temporary mobility in the event of complete air loss due to a puncture, along with responsive handling and traction in dry and wet conditions. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

So is it available in any C5 sizes? I have Cray Scorpion wheels in Z06 sizes, but have the original regular C5 size Goodyear runflats (yes, this combo works just fine). But with these wheels I can use either the stock C5 tire sizes or the C5 Z06 tire sizes.

First off, Let me say, Love your avatar. I have mentioned it quite often and it always gets a laugh. The manager told me that they are in short supply for a couple of months, but these are specifically designed for the Corvette, and will be easier to come by real soon. I was told that my stock C5 sizes are available but have to be ordered. I was told 1-3 weeks. Like I said, for 1200 for the set (maybe cheaper for the C5's) for a set of emt's is in my book a deal. I love my present Firehawks, and made slicks out of my last pair:chuckle before buying new. Good luck, Mark:w

Saweeet, Duayne:upthumbs. Care to relate the cost of those 4 tires:W.

Getting pretty philosophical in your old age. I must be getting there too, because I agree with your statement whole heartedley.:beer

Firehawks?

Wow...I didn't think Firestone still made tires.:chuckle

I'm thinking you need to get out a little more often Remo. It's now summertime. Feel free to move about the country;LOL

I might have to look into his health care provider:upthumbs

Apparently Firestone Lives

I went to my AARP meeting this evening and low and behold I spotted a set of Firestone tires on a beat up old Ford Explorer. The owner said they were the replacements for the ones that used to explode.;LOL

Dwayne..Alexis will be back from Rinebeck in about two weeks.:thumb

Don't be such a hater Remo:beer. BTW, do you clear coat those tires of yours to get them all shiny like that? Reminds me of a Hotwheel. A beautiful Hotwheel tho:upthumbs

Buy What Meets Your Requirements

markmark....I'm not a Firestone hater. I've had many brands over
the years but currently BF Goodrich has what I need. They stick
like glue and are very quite.:)

Now here's a shot that shows the tires are just as shiny on the other
side of the car. I might have got a little carried away with the
Stoners Tire Shine that day. But two months later they looked
just right.:L

:upthumbsAnd she is just as beautiful on that side too. 2 months?:rotfl. Drive that thing , man!:beer. I love the Firehawks. They have performed admirably. Now that I have learned the characteristics of my ride, I'm skeptical to go with anything else. I would be very disappointed to buy a set of tires, that in my mind, didn't perform as well. I'm sure we are all like that:w

There is more than a little resemblance to Bridgestone tread patterns. I'm sure Firestone is leaning heavily on Bridgestone technology, AND THAT'S A GOOD THING.
