Sweet ride! Your one hell of a son! Just in case you don't know the regular part vendors, the top sites that come to mind are http://www.zip-corvette.com/GroupDetails/GroupLanding1.aspx?gid={6702fd06-3c4e-4e43-9219-237622abe46f}&SearchType=_GROUP_SEARCH&GroupName=68-82& , http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort~51~cadefibG#__utma=1.469106715.1321059812.1321059812.1321059812.1&__utmb=1.1.10.1321059812&__utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1321059812.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none)&__utmv=-&__utmk=268247822 , Willcox Corvette, Inc. - Parts, Restoration, Help - "When you're not the biggest, You try harder" , Corvette Parts & Accessories from Mid America Motorworks, 866-350-4540

Welcome to the CAC! Btw a couple of those sites give a forum discount ;)
Perfect, I will check out the forum sponsors first for parts

One of the heater hoses goes to a S shaped metal tube that then runs to a small piece of hose to the water pump. That metal tube is corroded pretty bad, I searched all those parts places and cannot locate one. Do you guy have any idea where to get that tube? It looks like it routes the hose under the AC compressor and to the water pump

Can you take a picture of what your referring to. Is it the tube that attaches to the intake manifold?

May be really hard to get a decent pic. It runs from a small 2" hose that attaches to the water pump. The metal S shaped pipe then snakes under the AC compressor and attaches to one of the heater hoses. Can't find it anywhere online. I have an older Corvette Parts Manual and it calls it a "pipe assembly"

I haven't seen my ole pal Stingray6974 (Mike) around lately... Mike is one of the most knowledgeable Corvette Mech/Restoration/friend around. He opened a internet store along with his shop work. If anyone would be able to help you out, and possible find the exact parts you need it would be Mike ;)

Here is his website with address and phone number:
Classic Corvette Parts oh, and he specializes in anything older than 1996 exp. C2's & C3's ;) :dance

Good luck and tell Mikey Hi from Bud :w

Heater core replaced as well as the trans totally rebuild. Got a set of 1982 tags off Ebay and everything is titled and register in my Dad's name. Can't wait til the 18th--I am giving it to him that night after we have him over for dinner.

Couple questions -

How the heck do you get the seats to fold down?

The indicator label for the trans gear selection- - P R D, etc has fallen down to one side beside the gear shifter. Anyway to open that up and move it over. Right now when I look down there is nothing there, I see it has fallen over to the left inside.

The seats should just fold over....
as for the tranny selector, the console needs to be taken out.

see if this helps....http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com...stry-forum/120790-seat-wont-fold-forward.html

FYI...there is a search button on the upper right of the page.
if you type in your problem, you will get a list of old threads that could help you..
I searched earlier, but no decent threads came up, you have the magic touch. That thread you posted worked perfect. There was a post about using a screwdriver to free up the latch, and it worked great, seats fold now.

Was also able to use a screwdriver to easily slide the gear shift indicator label over and line it up.

Thanks!!

I'm excited for the 18th to get here, and I only get to read the posts not enjoy the real Vette.
Good luck keeping the secret, as well as getting some absolutely PRICELESS pix and videos!

You guys with a 700R4 trans - How fast do you need to be going before the car shifts into OD/High Gear? In a normal car even at a low speed(40 mph) the trans will shift into all gears eventually. For some reason the trans in this car will not shift into OD til your going at least 55mph. I was told this is quite normal for the early 700R4 transmissions....

Been a while since I was into the guts of the 700R4 but I do believe:

That car in stock form should hit OD at just over 40 under VERY light throttle, my 84 would and they are the same engine and transmission. The adjustment of the Throttle Valve (TV) cable can tweak that somewhat. Some like to adjust the TV cable so as to increase the transmission line pressure just a little...for a bit firmer shifts. This will have the side effect of raising the shift points...including OD. If it seems to be shifting a bit hard along with going into OD at a higher speed than you like, a simple TV cable adjustment may be all it needs.

Sometimes also the TCC lockup is mistaken for the shift from 3rd to 4th (OD). The minimum speed required for TCC lockup is computer controlled and set at 40MPH from the factory (at least in 84 it was).

Thanks a bunch for the info--Makes sense

Well if it aint one thing it's another----Does anyone know if these cars have some kind of major shutoff or the like. Started fine 2 days ago, brand new battery, now it won't do anything--Seems like no power going to it at all----Check the battery connections and all it fine.... Was on the way to take and have the trans cable adjusted---Guess Dad will get a non running car on Sunday...

Does anything light up at all? Headlights, interior when you open the door? Anything? Corvettes (C-3's) are notorious for having ground problems after 40 years. Check the cables- at the battery, the ground at the frame under the battery, and the ground jumper from the right motor mount at the frame to the block. After that, it gets into the fuse links down close to the starter.

Be sure and post some pictures when you drop this on your Dad. There are a bunch of of that are watching this pretty closely for his reaction.:thumb

Thanks---There is something draining the battery for sure---I replaced the battery which was brand new and everything works fine. So I will try to chase down the electrical drain next week after I give the car to my Dad tomorrow.
