We have inherited the 69 that my brother-in-law bought new and have started the restoration process. When calling Mid-America to order a radiator they said they wanted the VIN and 'Date Code' and that the manfacturer/distributor would stamp it with the VIN and 'date code' to make it more authentic. Does this make sense and how can I be sure of these numbers. The VIN matches the original bill of sale so that's easy. The restoration shop says the 'date code' is K10 but I can't verify that and would like to be sure if this stamping detail is important. Would someone enlighten us as to the location, structure and meaning of this 'date code'? I have heard that the letter is the build month and that I should find two more numbers for the month and year of build but K10 doesn't fit this structure. The restorer has not dropped the tank to see if the build sheets are available but that should happen in a week. I also plan to order replacement build sheets from NCM for documentation (and because we're curious and excited to have them...). Some say the letter is the month and that Corvette doesn't start with 'A' for January. Other places say 'A' is January?? We're confused but anxious to get started! Thanks for any help!
