Hello, I am a new member to this forum and would like to give you some information about myself. I have owned many vettes in the past including
Bmodified stick axle and GT1 race cars. My street machines have included a 69 coupe, 72 coupe, 65 coupe show car, and a street driven, 81 coupe that was modified for autocross competition.
Since I am now entering my third or fourth childhood, I am now looking for a C5 to drive on the street only. I would like information on what I should be aware of when looking for this vintage, as well as any pertinent information that I should ask perspective sellers, either private or dealers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Frank,(vettessince 69)

Welcome to the :CAC!!

Although you have no doubt gathered truckloads of knowledge from your own experiences buying and selling Corvettes, here's a link to a Buyer's Checklist from CAC | Tech Center. There's also a tremendous amount of information regarding each individual model year in the CAC | Tech Center | Model Center.

A bit of research and study of threads in the CAC C5 Forums will also help you become an informed buyer.

The simplest advice I could give is the same response usually posted by our members and that is, to buy the latest model C5 with the lowest mileage and best maintenance records you can find.

Good luck with your quest!

Welcome, Frank...

We think you'll find much information...and will certainly be able to contribute a lot of your own...here.

As JaneAnn said, buy the newest, lowest mileage you can find, and it sure helps to know the background. Where do you live, by the way. I am a Moderator here, but I also sell Corvettes at Corvette Mike New England (a sponsoring vendor at CAC), and I'd love to be able to help you in your search.

Feel free to contact me at any time.

Elaine

Welcome to the CAC, Frank. :w Get a car with as much paperwork/documentation as you can. Someone that goes to the trouble of writing down all gas mileage for example, probably is keeping track of other stuff.

welcome to CAC!!!:welcome
enjoy and good luck with your search!!!!
