hello there,

i'm new here to the Callaway forum. thought i would drop in, say hi and ask a couple of questions:

1. what are your feelings about cars with just the aerobody packages as opposed the engine(turbo / ZR-1) modified cars? are we stepchildren? ;)

2. anyone have an idea how many ZR-1's received the areobody conversion?

thanks!

Welcome to the :CAC

Based upon your questions I suppose you have a Callaway in mind :)

My feeling on #1 is, a Callaway Turbo car or "Supernatural car" is based upon the "heart" of the car - in other words, if it has the drivetrain, then it is a Callaway.
The Aerobody is irresistable to look at but it is not for everyone - the hard fiberglass makes it hard (in one's mind) to drive every day as it is simply not forgiving :(

I have seen plenty of Callaway's without the Aerobody and believe me, they are well known vehicles (the turbo whine gives it away :D )

I want to add, the Callaway of the month that has been selected (at www.callawayownersgroup.com ) is a stock bodied B2K - and is simply awesome!!!!

Callaway will also note in the registry, if a regular Vette w/ Aerobody exists - this is done so the owners / VIN is in records for parts, etc. and for that, Callaway cars is noting them as a Callaway as well and I would certainly welcome them anytime :)

Now Question #2 - specific figures can be obtained from Joanne Mercer ( jmercer@callawaycars.com ) To respect the records, I will say it is a rare car indeed and those who own them are a lucky few :)

Hope this helps - and again, Welcome :m

thanks for the kind words. yes, my zr-1 does have the callaway aerobody installed on it. however, the engine itself has the doug rippie 475 hp conversion

Paul - as you can tell, there are many, many variations of these cars. How long have you had your car & what are some of the details about it??

Pics???????
Thanks :m

Thought that car looked familiar:D Awesome looking! How do you like it so far??
