Just thought I would provide this information to others.
I have new vert, automatic with 5800 miles. Used the car in the morning. Car sat in garage till about 1pm. Started her up and all kind of chimes went off - DIC displayed "reduced engine power, service engine soon, low fuel, oil life remaining ---%" on a recurring basis. Shut car off and restarted her - same thing. Tried one more time, same thing so I shut her down and went to read the manual. After looking over the manual I went to start her up and the Corvette pre-start stuff ran but then there was complete silence - nothing. Tried several more times and still nothing. Called Chevy-USA. About 15 minutes later I decided to try again. Started right up and all readouts were fine.
Drove her over to the Chevy dealer and they took a look. Technician, a real nice guy who seemed very competent, said it was running OK now but it did throw off many, many codes. They kept it overnight, worked on her again the next day. They called me to let me know they were in contact with Chevy Tech Support and they decided to replace the pcm.
You have to wonder if the car just burped and everything was going to be OK or there is a gremlin in the module. I'm not a skilled mechanic and these on-board computers do add an element of mystery and surprise.
