I'm hearing a crackling noise coming from the passenger side speaker. Sounds like it ripped. Do you know where is a good place on the net to purchase new speakers? Also, how hard would it be to change the whole system, stereo and speakers?

Thanks

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center. What model year do you own?

HI there,
You can replace, however, do you have the noise in the door speaker assembly, or the rear speaker????
Please remember, that there is revised noise diagnosis by GM for this type of concern, when audio levels are elevated, and most are due to this.
Please access the bulletin database that Rob has installed on this website for further information.

C4C5, I have the Bose system in my car and I love it. I just wanted to add a powered subwoofer to it for a little bit more
oomph for the low end. Something like a bazooka. Anyway, my questions is, does the radio/cd have pre-amp outputs. I assume that the Bose are powered speakers, then that would mean they get a low level signal (pre-amp) from somewhere to the amp. If they do it makes it really easy to retrofit a sub with simple line level inputs to it from the radio/cd.

I would not suggest you add anything to the bose system as it is made specifically for the Vette and the system is not made to add anything to it. If you add anything to the bose system, you might actually hurt the sound. You would be better off leaving it the way it is or change the entire system. Good luck in whatever you choose.

I’m sure you can bridge a high to low off the rear speakers. I haven't tried it yet but I’m going to very soon. I’m just curious if those rear speakers are full range. If they are I’m just going to add a sub replace the rear speakers with Boston acoustics and add some Boston acoustics tweeters on the door. That should do the trick. I like the stock look so the bazooka will not work. I’m going to make a custom box that will fit in that container in the center back. I’m planning on doing it next month. This month’s project is the electric exhaust cut outs. I also have a 97. Let me know how it works out if you do it before I do.
