I reached out to Harlan Charles about this, and below is his response.

Harlan Charles is super important to the Corvette platform.
Harlan is my neighbor but do not ask him any questions on Corvette or future product.
Both Harlan Charles and Kirk Benion deserve much credit for C7 as well as Tadge Juechter
Kirk Benion is also close neighbor.
Again I do not get information from anyone above.
