New tire time...need your advice

I'm with all of you that hadn't ever heard about this. Maybe it's a problem on C4's? I've never ever heard, before now, of opening anything! Hell, my car is 25 years old. It's probably not as tight as when she left St. Louis. And being in Cleveland, I KNOW I've hit potholes that made the whole car rattle like a tin can filled with bolts.

When I take my car in for tires, they crack both doors, lift the hood and open the hatch... they say they don't want to take any chances...

Exactly what my tire dealer did and said last time I went in for a leaky tire.

I could tell they were quite concerned about it. Which is precisely the way I want them to be. The owner of the tire dealership is a vette owner and local clubs patronize this shop. I would guess something led this shop and others (like Claborn's) to believe it's a good precaution.

But now, since I've heard from everyone here, I not as worried about it.
I guess I am overprotective, but hell it's my pride and joy and it took way too long to get. I appreciate everyone's opinions THANKS!

One thing I think we all missed.. how cold is it? I do believe if it is quite cold you should unlatch the hood and release the doors to the first latch. Cold and plastic might cause a problem.:)
