New tires

I went to get new tires last Saturday and was talked into a set of performance GTs. These not only didn't look right but when I got home they ended up looking downright ugly. My question is can I put on a set of BFG TA Radials in 255-60-R15s all the way around or will there be any problems in the front for clearance with the steering?

Yes, that tire should fit without major complications. I have new tires installed with a seldom rub here and there...

255/60s were an option in '79, shouldn't be a problem. so did ya get tires that were too small?

No the tires were from Les Schwab and the guy said that they looked good on my car! They were Grand Prix Performance GTs and they looked like they really belonged on an SUV or a small truck

I tell ya what, if it were me, i'd sell those tires(e-bay,craigs list), and get what I wanted. I've got Goodyear Eagle GT-IIs 255/60s.

I purchased Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T 's this spring because I couldn't get the BFG Radial T/A 's in the sizes I needed. I'm glad I got them! They look nicer than the BFG's. They look like they have a more aggressive tread pattern. Not sure how they handle though since I'm just finishing up some work on my Vette and I haven't tried them out. The best part is that not everybody is running them.... yet!
