Stumbled upon Tremec website, as of January 27 Press release. They announced the new TKO-500, Sounds like they made some more improvements.
P/NTECT4616 for GM applications. Going to hold off on my order for now, till I
know when it will be available. The site is WWW.tremectransmissions.com

Just slap me and call me uncle Jedd lol

This looks like it will turn out to be a fantastic deal and might save us oh 1 or 2000 over the other people selling these transmissions that are modified for our use. :).

Please keep us informed of this information as it becomes available to you.

Sound like a good fit. I like the specs on the 500. That would be nice in the C3. I noticed they didn't list a price. keep us informed.

For something so neat this thread sure is going slow. I mean from the way it sounds. It will be much cheaper than the Keisler system and be stronger. :)

Although there was lots of info. I was still not so sure of what I would have to do for an auto-manual swap. Keisler has everything you need for the swap. If tremec does, then they are not posting this info.

I really like the 2.87 1'st gear option. The 3.27 1'st and 1.97 2'nd is way too much of a drop, IMHO. Just for reference, the M-20 has a 2.52 1'st and 1.88 2'nd.

The Keisler is a complete kit and comes with everything to do this install in 1 day* without modifying the car. I believe they modify the tranny so that you don't need to have a removable x-member as well as other stuff so it's a plug and play. I have never installed nor seen this setup and I'm only relay'ing what I've read about the Keisler kit.

If you buy a TKO from somewhere else, it will just include the transmission. You will still need a yolk, DS shortened, bracket fabbed, shifter, possibly cut x-member, etc. You will still end up saving $300 - $500 depending on the price you find for a TKO, but you will have more headaches and a longer install time.

*This is probably true if you've done it before, or are really good. I do imagine it could be done quite easily in a weekend.

Actually, I'd think you'd want the TKO 600 with the 2.87 1st gear. These models are reportedly to be released this month but none of the dealers can confirm its ship date.

In what they say about the new trans is they did the mods for shifter location as well as mounting as keisler would have to do. But this trans is now a production unit. I am in no BIG hurry for a trans since I want to find the best setup I can put in the car without spending a fortune to do it. I am not a fan of the Richmond units since I have seen way too many of them brake prematurly. But I also run no slip clutches as well. Well pretty much no slip lol. I have had fantastic luck with a Hays steel flywheel and the Ram 6 pad matalic disc and there Roller assist Borg and Beck style hat. Now that combo will grab ya :)
