New to Center Best shock tire combo for a newbie

Just picked up a 80 with 70000,00 miles 1 owner from AZ.Now the 2001 C5 mill yellow has a mate.73 was my 1st vette had to go back to the fun of a C3.
Im looking for the best ride combo I can get.If theres a tire make or size, shocks whats best?If a different wheel size is better.
The info ive found here is great thanks and hello to everyone from the newbie

Welcome to Corvette Action Center.
I don't have an answer for tire/shock combos, but I think you should consider what the intended use of this vehicle will be, before you decide on a combo.

Various uses will require different combinations...like the differences between slalom course racing, drag racing and stock street driven on weekends.
If you don't plan on using the vehicle hard, I'd stick with close to stock, but you need to be happy with it, so decide what will make you happiest.

Welcome, Hombre. Without modifications you can easily get away with 255R60 15's all around on the tires. As far as shocks go, the KYB Gas-A-Just are good for overall ride and handling. I have had them and now have Bilsteins. The KYB's ride better, the Bilsteins handle better.

Rob (site administrator) should be posting a C3 Wheel and Tire article I just finished on the "Columns" section under "Shark Bites" soon. You might want to read through that before making a tire choice. I went into some discussion on theory and some of the combo's you can consider.

I went with the KYB gas-a-just and BFG T/A. Great ride and handling.
