Hi all,

I want to buy a callaway but do not where to start!
I have been following this forum for a while and no where
to go. But i can not decide on an 87 or 88 and up car. Which
one is better?. I always wanted a callaway and now i have
an opportunity to buy one!!!Any suggestions guys and gals
would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Welcome aboard! Youve found a great place for Callaway fans....the ONLY place.

I was in the same postion a year ago. Get the 88+ car. It has the big brake package, revised suspension, and most importantly BIG turbos :D

Thanks for the welocome

Hi Surfnsun,

Thanks for the input. I know a little about the 87 and
88 and up cars. But i hear that the 88+ cars the turbos
are no longer made? Is this true? I am looking for a street
car not a concourse car that sit's in my garage collecting
dust. If you see or hear anyone who has one for sale
in the 22 to 28k range ps drop me note. I would rather
have a coupe since i already have a 86 vert. I have seen a guys car here in Miami who has a87 Vert for sale but that a little to
much for me!!!

Thanks

Mike

fla86vertman - Welcome to the :CAC

You have found the right place for Callaway info for sure :)

looking at your questions, which is better?? They all have advantages to one another so I suppose it boils down to what you are really looking for - Sounds like a Coupe, and in the 22-28k range, I suspect the car would have between 20-40k on it (other factors excluded) and would be a "stock bodied" car (as opposed to an Aerobody car)

A great deal was had a few mos. ago on 90-019 out of Fla. and the new Owner has brougt the car to his home state of Ill. so that is one fewer in your area :(

I suspect the 87 'vert you mentioned is a Black w/ tan one and is asking 32k for it - That car is sharp and wears the VERY rare (for 87) 17" Dymags.

Keep in mind - prices are a starting point and you will find that by doing your homework a nice deal can be had :upthumbs

FWIW - I searched and scoured for years until I found the right on (I was partial to 89's ;) ) Keep the faith and again, Welcome to the :CAC

When you have some free time - surf through www.callawayownersgroup.com :)

Mike, Any luck on this???

I have heard of two Callaways selling in the past month for over 50k - I know that dosen't really help your cause but there will be more cars out there...

Stay tuned :m

The 88 TT Aero Vert on eBay with 53K miles sold I believe for $18K. I know there are several around in the low $30,S you just need to be patient and keep looking.

FLAvertman,

Welcome to the CAC.

Is the 87 you say for sale a black non-aerobody car?

BTW, you know the aerobody will add a lot of value to the car.

I know of an 89 coupe with the 1st documented production Aerobody which was for sale in the low $30K range in Ft. Lauderdale. I do not believe it sold but I have the info on the seller and I can pass it on. Oh, and it has about 5K miles on it so it is in mint condition.

E-mail me at luigi@employees.org and I will pass you on his info.

Luigi
:cool

Callaway For sale

Hi Everyone,

Thanks Luigi for the Welcome!
BTW the black 87 Vert for sale is an
non aerobody in the Miami Area.
It looks like i found a callaway!!!
Stay Tuned for all the details as soon as
i buy the callaway!!!

Mike!!!

Hey Mike

Do you know a guy named Ralph in Georgia?

Hi and welcome. If SurfnSun * Josh * were to decide to sell his car, that would make a better Callaway for you. It even has the very sought after wonder bar already installed. Performance wise 88 and newer models have a better turbo system.

Hi Josh,

Who is Ralph in GA? I do not know him!
Should i know him! Does he have a Callaway for sale?

Mike

Hi 89x2

The big day is very soon!!
I will give all details as soon as i have
the car in possesion.

Thanks

Mike

Decent :m

Not sure if you need it but, an owner who recently purchased his Callaway was looking for transportation to haul it cross country - he (and HoldHard2) used Intercity lines to haul their Callaways :upthumbs

Here is the link to that thread..

Van lines

Hope this helps :m

Mike,

If youre coming thru Ocala, and want to look at my car that will be fine. Youve got my phone number, call me when youre coming thru.

Josh
