Hey!

Doing the New York to Miami in 2009 C6 Z06 Black on black... was told I could do it in 20.5 hrs.. going straight down. I dont have any radar/laser detectors. Was told by triple AAA to be careful on route 19... off of 79S to 77..for speed traps.

Given the state of many local budgets, it seems the whole highway system will be one large speed trap. My goal is to make it in one piece with zero speeding tickets.

Wish me luck...
Chris

(leaving this friday evening)...

Good luck!

I've got a sure-fire way to avoid getting any speeding tickets. Do the speed limit! ;LOL

Let us know how it turns out.

That's a great price...for a ZR1.

20.5 hours is reasonable. If you travel interstate 95 much you'll find a lot of traffic rolling along at 80 mph.
One thing I'd recommend is continue on to Key West.
Have a good trip.:thumb

If work doesnt need me tomm... I will leave sometime later this evening..

After a few days of driving the Z06, it sure does attract a lot of attention, there are kids and grownups that take camera pics of it while it sits parked.. today this guy pulls up next to me in a official vehicle and says pull over your car is coming off as being stolen..I looked at him for a few seconds, and then he broke and said nah... you have a nice car, 'I just bought a vintage vette recently'...just wanted to take a better look at it.. lol..

Chris

Woo woo... down here.. I really was able to test out the traction system on the vette, I hit that major storm front all along the southern board. Under 60 mph the vette is extremely stabile.. over 60 mph.. a little well placed pool of water will make the wheels slip.. but even with the slip as long as you dont fight the initial slip its still drives well.. I was white knuckled throughout most of the driving through the storm front though.. its literally torrential rain that just pounds down on you.

I'm still extremely happy with my purchase, I wanted to test out the 505 hp before moving up to 640 and higher. I havent come across any major glitches with the car. When moving in and out of parking lots, you have to be little careful with scraping the front with ramps.

The rain is still coming down hard, but I'm glad I did this. The other thing when driving long distances, you tend to notice the road surface quality when to be careful, there are patches of old road surface that your more likely to hydroplane in.

I will post some pics... when I get back home.. I forgot friggin camera pc cord...also a goodnights rest is worth it. I was pushing it a little at times and its not worth it. Road hypnosis can be deadly to you and others. I took all my CD's.. even though it came with XM radio.. it was still worth taking your own music.

Last but not least.... no speeding tickets...(yet)..woo woo..

Chris

back in new york in one piece, very nice trip...for safety reasons sleeping overnight once is a must. And no speeding tickets, there were some close calls..

I never use a front plate .It just doesn't look good on anything newer than a C2.What helps is the car is not registered in the same state that I live :D

Glad ya had a good trip .I drive my car Maine to Florida in the fall and bring it back in the spring.About 3600 miles per year.

I've fallen in love with the car.. and am looking to get a another one for mods....racing..
on a sidenote.. when I was driving down to Miami.. my credit card company thought my card was stolen based on how many times I was refueling the car.. lol

any major differences between 2007 and 2009 Z06 ...?

after more then 7,000 miles first issue for the vette...

check engine light came on.. pressed onstar... error code had to do with emissions.. checked the gas cap.. might be a bad batch of fuel.. I filled up at a place I rarely do.

or faulty catalytic converter.. heard there is a bad batch out there..
