2008 427 Z06 Special Edition #312
My special edition 427 is now two months old, 1600miles. Problems "fit and finish" from the factory.
1. During a heavy rain storm, the drivers window leaks; same as the c5 the overlapping rubber stripping top-forward section 1" overlap, never installed right, bowed out and drips onto my arm. Dealer order parts month ago, went in forgot to order bolts to remove top??, still waiting for them to call back;

2. The radio, switches FM channels when I turn my wheel to the right and the stations move up, also static in the background; Still waiting for them to fix that, test drive did not show proprom driving around the parking lot..

3. Driver door, steel latch on door,, plastic ring on latch to deaden noise, something moves when pressure applied, it moves like a slot, metal sound when you go over speed bumps slowly; part order waiting, service tech, found it, then had to repeat the noise one hundred times now it is more pronounced;

4. Special edition front break vent inserts, loose, bad installation, one replaced waiting on the second part; two weeks now.

5. Noticed the trunk never lines up exactly with bumper, about 1/16" high across, notice it every time I get in and out for some reason, yet it is secure.

The dealership in San Antonio, Texas is Freedom Chevy (also bought the car there), is there anyone from GM who can help make sure they get the right parts and fix these problems correctly, like the factory should have?

try contacting BG through their feedback tab on the plant website. they are usually very good and working to resolve issues and with a car as special as yours, would think they would be very interested in getting it right.

A few days ago the Chevy dealership I bought this vehicle from worked on items 1 through 5. Item 1) The replacement of the window seal was a large job involved removal of the fixed top, and ran along both window including the windshield-who would figure. The workmanship left 1/16" separations you can see the metal underneath-I dought they tested it. Item 2) a week earlier I fought with the service manager, he would not check the radio out if they can not duplicate problem, after I threatened his career, he called back and would look at the system. result they found nothing-if they even looked. A few days after they could not find anything, the radio channel moved up again as before without touching the controls. 3) they did replace the door clasp, did not need too, could have just tightened it down, but it is not making clicking sounds when you run over bumps at low speeds anymore. 4) They replaced this seams okay. 5) Still the same do not think they touched it.

Driving a c5 for five years and now the c6, there is no comparison, the c6 is by far a much higher tech vehicle, smoother, quieter and faster with a much better interior (which can still use improvement).

Recommendation to GM:
1. Improve QT/QA along the line, fit and finish from this experience is dropping off;
2. Replace the plastic door liners with metal, plastic comes loose, scratches very easy and detracts from the upgraded leather interior.
3. I wish I had bought the 2009, I hear they replaced the door skid sticker with a built in light up door jam, as you may see in cars of this price range, if not change this (it is one of the first items you see entering the car.
4. Of course, the special edition sticker, goes without saying, should have been painted on like the viper. I love the paint and metal flake, much like the 70's cars.
5. I like the leather option, recommend to anyone, the new gray color much better then previous selections, good fit and finish, does collect dust or dirt along side door panels, easier then darker colors or soft leather, you see in other luxury cars. I would do the full door in leather, still has plastic cover for speakers and trim.
6. Also the auto closing hatch cover is a good idea, would fix the problem I have under item 5. I wish there was an add on for this, I just may upgrade.

Otherwise for now, GM has made me a very happy mid age male car enthusiast very happy each and every day I drive her.

I have almost 1900 miles on her now.
