Hello to all, I am the owner of a 64 Roadster for the last 2 years. In that time I've driven it in the little dance you do with a 40 Year old car while you fix the little things and gain confidence in your purchase. It's nice to say that its a great ride. Now for the minor problem. The car has a NOM and side exhausts and my wife really hates the noise; she is a good scout about it but thats the reality. I've purchased the under the car, complete exhaust from Corvette Central and I am in the process of painting the rear exhaust valance. My problem is the steel bracket that hangs someplace under the seats. What does this piece bolt to ? it has two holes. Do I remove the tranny hanger and use longer bolts? Has anyone done this.
Let me thank you guys in advance; I've lurked awhile and certainly learned a lot.

regards, stall

Stall check in on my thread midyear side exchaust I am going to post a picture of where I think you have to screw that braket into.I am posting the picture to see if its the hole that the screws go into.

Is this where the mount is connected to ??

Hi Stall,

If you are talking about the center exhaust brace near the crossmember, it goes between the trans tailshaft housing mounting surface and the trans support mount.

This brace/support anchors the exaust pipes to stop them from rattling in the x-member "pass through" holes

Stall,

Below is another picture of where the bracket goes. I sugggest you get a copy of the AIM (Assembly Information Manual) for the 1964. It is the GM paperwork that in theory told St Louis how to build the car. It shows how everything goes together. You can obtain one from most vette vendors.
