Hi Folks.....

As a newbie asking the pro's what modifications would you recommend I make to my 92 Vette that would increase the horse power. If you could also recommend the actual component that you used I would appreciate it.

Some of the mods I have read about are:
Air Filter
Exhaust
Throttle body
Chip
Thank you,
Peter

How much ya'll lookin to spend?
LT4 top end kit will get you some real HP gains. The kit consist of the LT4 hot cam and LT4 heads.

Nuttin dat drastic. I don't want to get too far away from the original.

Thank you for your advice. I went to your web page and didn';t really understand some of the mods and what the accomplish.
For instance, what would changing the thermostat do for me?
What would bypassing the throttle body coolant line do?
Why would I install a fan overide?

Peter

T sum it up briefly

1)cooler t stat means cooler eng temp which means more power!
2)coolant runs through the throtle body and heats up the air coming through the intake.by eliminating this, the air coming through will be cooler which means more power.if you live somewhere real cold, this is usually not recomended because of iceing in the tb,but i live in ny and have this done with no prob encountered .
3)fan over ride makes your fans come on earlier which again means cooler eng temps and power.
*if you do 1&3,you should have your prom programmed for it.these are cheap tricks that do work,i have done all three!

after market power upgrades

Hey Pete! I have a 89 coupe that came chipped and with a 160 thermostat, along with a high end coil/dist. setup. Also some mods to the intake system and exsaust most of it all out of MID-AMERICA cat. . Alot of people in the know will tell you that your not going to get much gain in hp from bolting on things as simple as an air foil in the intake!lol!
But I will say that people who own corvettes and have driven my car say its way way peppier then stock! For my money and not wanting to tear the motor down, Id go with a kand n air filter, smooth out the way the air gets to the motor, and get a mid priced better exshaust system put on from the cat back.
Good air in bad air out as smooth and as fast as poss. would be what id do first. It works for me and i think the tech guys in form will bear me out. feel free to e-mail me with questions on what im useing. good luck and wellcome! captbane@yahoo.com

Exhaust - probably gain you 15 HP at the rear wheels.

I like CORSA.

Headers

Don't forget about long tube headers, if they are allowed in yor state, which I believe they are. It's quite simple, more airflow will get you more power. Do the intake stuff, then do the exhaust stuff, you'll feel the difference. As mentioned above cooling down the engine, and the airflow helps. K&N air filter, with an open air box is a big help. Whatch out power is addictive! And expensive!
