This car is everything that I thought it would be. Absolutely perfect and "the one" that I have been looking for. The car has 21 months of factory warranty left and is GM certified. A clean carfax report with only one owner. I also saw the VIS (i think) which is a service history report. The reclining mechanism on the drivers seat has been replaced and a rear differential carrier. However, the best price that I can negotiate is $35,000. I walked away at $35,000. I was dealing directly with Sales Mgr. and he was inflexible. I told him to call me if they would consider $33000. I would pay cash, no financing. But, no call yet. Would I be a complete sucker if I payed $35,000. ? Cuz my trigger finger is ready.

I think you've made your desire to purchase this car clear. It comes down to how motivated is the dealer to sell it, and how much does the dealer currently have in it?

My advice is wait a few days and see if you get a call. The end of the month is coming up, and they be more flexible as the need to meet monthly quotas looms. Good luck!

I was very careful to tell the dealer that I had 3 other cars that I was considering. Also, that the other cars were less expensive.

My opinion, 35k for an '03 coupe w/7k on the clock is a reasonable deal (33k would be a good deal), but I would wonder what happened to the diff carrier.

Good luck.

Dumb question... What is a differential carrier ? It was replaced at 1200 miles.

The carrier is what houses the car's differential and ring gears; and what the ring and differential gears are bolted to in the rear end.

I would say, if the car is everything that you want, then go for it. That is not a bad price. We're all just hoping you'll get a steal of a deal, but sometimes those are hard to find.
I hope you've looked at a few others in your area for comparison? Just to make sure you've scoped out the market completely.

I thought I got a hell of a deal yesterday when I bought my Electron Blue 02 Coupe with 6-speed and high polished wheels and 18,500 miles for 27,000. Now I'm starting to think it wasn't all that special. Bummer.

I think there are probably some really great deals if you want to travel the country. However, when I found my car last summer I fell in love with it. As you say Billman it was "THE CAR".

Mine was a 2001 silver Targa 6 spd loaded with every option but what I loved about it was it was driven by a Doctor who babied it - the car did not even get driven in the rain and had not a scratch.

The car had 22,000 miles on it and I paid $31,000 about a year ago. Obviously not a great deal but I love it and I could have paid $10,000 more locally for a car that was near as nice. So if that is the car for you don't worry abou one or two housand - the sheer joy of it will more than make up for it and lots of us Vette owners got bad deals but we are still very happy with our rides.

GoodLuck

cerberus,

No, I don't think you got ripped. That sounds like a good price on an 02 with low miles.

DoomDriver makes a very good point. In a few years, it won't matter whether you coaxed them out of that extra 2k. On the other hand, if you let "THE ONE" get away, you might regret it for a long time.
