GLPK Carsport Corvette on pole for Imola FIA GT race

FIA GT After some trouble yesterday, he had a Porsche spin in front of him, and he went into the wall, Mike Hezemans claimed the eighth pole position of his FIA GT career today.

He placed the GLPK Carsport Corvette on the front of the grid for Sunday's 500 km, three hour race. Mike set the time in the first qualification session. Team mate Bert Longin: "I think the track will be slower in the second session due to the heat" and he was right. Onlt three teams were able to set their quickest time in the second session.

Mike Hezemans: "It's about time - I was beginning to slip down the statistics table." Mike and his team-mates Anthony Kumpen and Bert Longin will start alongside Pedro Lamy in the nr 11 Larbre Competition Ferrari, with Philipp Peter taking third for the JMB Racing Maserati MC12.

A few years ago the F3s shared the track on race days with the FIA GT so we would bump into these guys ½ dozen times a year. Back then they were driving Vipers.:eyerole
Mike can drive the C5R to its limit – unlike his Spanish counterpart who thankfully stopped campaigning on the Spanish GT circuit and saved all Corvette owners embarrassment.(It is sad to see P cars and F cars pull away from a C5R on the starting grid because its pilot can afford the car but not the ability to drive it!):W
