Z06: THE HIGH-PERFORMANCE CORVETTE
The Chevrolet Corvette C6 is available with even a faster version: the Z06, a moniker borrowed from the third-generation Corvette _ the Stingray _ in 1963. Most mods include changes to the chassis, brakes and engine _ liken the Z06 to Corvette's racecar version.
The Z06, which was launched in Detroit last month, gets a bored-out V8 displacing a mighty 7.0 litres churning out 500hp and 657Nm of torque good enough for a 4sec 0-100kph run and top speed over 300kph.
Apart from a beefed-up suspension, more powerful brakes are made possible by six-calliper type up front and four behind. Extensive use of aluminium and carbon-fibre make the Z06 some 20kg lighter than the regular C6.
