Its possible you have an electrical problem but if you turn the A/C on and the clutch does not engage it is also possible you have no or low refrigerant in your system. I recommend getting/borrowing/taking it to a shop and getting a A/C machine/gauge on it to see if you have any pressure in the system. Being as it is a 93 and has R12 in it, if yours leaked out you will be converting it to R134A.

Maybe instead of going to a shop, head for Advance / Zone, and buy a gauge. Even with a cheap gauge, you can tell RELATIVE pressures, and tell just about everything you need to know about the system.

The A/C panel wil light after starting the car and turning on the A/C. If will likley flash for a few seconds indicating a fault (like low gas pressure).

You really need the factory service manual if you expect to do much work at all on these cars. It will tell you how to access the OBD1 port under the dash (drivers side) and how to step through the diagnostic code results using your LCD displays in your dashboard.

If you have access to a USB to ALDL cable and can download Datamaster DA to interface and read the codes in the car's computer. It will offer you scads of detailed engine and vehicle information like what is the pressure in your A/C system (even when the A/C switch isn't turned on). More data than mose people can ever use. O2 sensor data, fuel maps all kinds of stuff. It, as I remember will even tell you what door switches have failed open.

The Datamaster is a free download for use up to 20 times. Then they want a license fee. I've been using it for two years and I still have 8 left.

TTS Power Systems

If you don't have the cable you can buy one for about $60. I bought mine here.

Or if he'd rather someone else do the work, buy the ALDL - USB interface, buy me THIS (in the middle):

then give me his IP address and remote access, and I can do the diagnostics from my computer YUPPP!

 Not today tho'; I think it goes for $4,300+

hi brian, thanks for the reply i will look into your tip kraz

When I had the 93 I had AC issues. To avoid the costs of converting to 134 I used Freeze 12 and a conversion fitting kit that I got off of Ebay. It was a lot less expensive and worked great.
