No Power To Hatch Release Door Switches

Hi to All:

Both door switches to open the hatch stopped functioning today. The switch inside the console compartment works just fine. Any suggestions as to correct the problem?

i have that problem with my 89. when i continue to push them or fiddle with them, they seem to work.... may be a loose wire in behind...

Hatch release

Looking at the schematic for a 1995 coupe (which has only a left passenger door hatch release), the door ajar switch must be functional and the door must be open for the door mounted hatch release to work. The console hatch release is in another circuit path and doesn't depend upon the door ajar switch.

The troubleshooting tree says to verify, by opening the door, that the door ajar light comes on. If not, work on the door ajar switch and its ground connection (black/white wire).

The door ajar switch is in the ground leg of the hatch release and must be closed (switch closed, door open) for the hatch release to work. The wire from the hatch release to the door ajar switch is gray/black. The wire to the hatch release from the interior is light blue.

Again, this is for a '95 coupe and yours may be wired differently.

On the 85 the timer module which controls the interior light delay also controls the hatch release on the driver door. not sure if the 87 is the same. That's what it sounds like to me. Timer is above hush panel on passenger side. Small black box tucked up in there. Trouble is you'll need a bone yard to find a replacement. They're no longer manufactured. On the 85 I lost the interior lights when the unit went.
