Well, well, well . . . nice 60 degree weather in Memphis -- what to do? Yep, wash and wax the baby. Start under the hood and spray S-100 ( I have a Harley too) and wash it off real good. Then move on. Finished -- looks great (Torch Red ya know)

Storm clouds approaching. Now, let's move it back into the garage . . . r-r-r-r-r-r . . . No start. r-r-r-r-r-r . . . No start. Yep, ran the battery down. Let's check to see if the air filter may be water logged -- bit of water, so let's take the element out just to make sure. r-r-r-r-r-r-r . . . no start.

Maybe the construction crew next door might help me push it (grunt) back in the garage.

Turns over fine - sounds like it's ready to start - sounds and acts like no gas (yep, tank's full of premium.)

Let it sit for a while with the battery charger on low. Then check it. r-r-r-r-r-r . . . still no start. Optispark wet?

Help??

Thanks. Actually I forgot to note that immediately after washing, I started the car to get heat into the engine compartment (to dry any water and vapor.) I let it idle while preparing to clean the rims and wash the car, and the car just shut off. Then is when it would not restart.

Used my electric leaf blower to blow everywhere on the engine - especially behind the water pump area. Nothing.

you may get lucky if you circulate lots of air with fans around the opti.

I agree with Jonm. The most likely problem is a wet ignition system.

At this point, you need to start with basics. Check fuel pressure and spark. Only then will you know which way to go for sure. Although it is most likely an ignition related problem, the worst thing you can do in troubleshooting is to make assumptions.

Good luck,

Started! I suppose the ignition system did get wet . . .but was careful not blast water on the engine - no more than driving in a rainstorm . . . hope this is not a precursor . . .

As always, CAC folks came thru. I only hope I can help others in this manner -- got all the books, lol.

Thanks again friends . . .
