HELP...HELP, Hey guys I am going the carlisle show this weekend and I have no sounds playing in my 91.. I just installed a after market system which was playing fine then with no warning it just cut out. I checked the fuse panel on the side but they seem fine. The antenna is also not working , my question is am I missing something simple or what? does the antenna have seperate fuse? I'm very confused because the hot wire to the radio still seems to be hot with my test light. Well any help would be great...thanks vetteguy65
There should be a "blue" wire from the head unit. This is called a "remote" wire; however, it has nothing to do with a remote. This wire needs to go to your amp, usually between the ground and hot wire of the amp. There should be 3 set screws on the side of the amp. The unit will not perform without the remote wire properly hooked up. Does the head unit light up? If not, I bet it's the remote wire. Hope this helps.
Saxybill1 is exactly right. This remote wire turns on the amps for the bose speakers. I have been running an aftermarket radio for 4 years now with no problems. There will be a hot wire all the time, that is to keep memory for the head unit. The remote wire I believe should be connected to the power of the head unit. I am not sure, as it was a good two years ago since I switched head units. If it just went out, check your wires. How did you install the aftermarket radio? I find it hard to believe that your radio just went out, however it could've happened. If you dont find something soon, I will tear into mine and find out how my pioneer is wired.
Hey thanks for ur reply craig. I had the whole system speakers and all replaced so I know thats not the problem. I have a built in amp in the system so I didn't think I needed the remote wire, But I will give it a shot to see if that does it. Time is running out for carlisle so hope this works ,if not I'll keep trying. Ty for ur help...Tim
I thank you guys who replied to my problem.I have my tunes back after alot of wire testing. The problem turned out to be a burnt out acc wire, the radio was still hot due to the battery hot wire but the switched hot wire was shot. Thanks again for ur help...Hope to see you guys at Carisle ,pa this weekend. Tim
