I would like to get some opinions on using a New old stock fuel pump that is least 36 years old. Would that pump still be good after sitting on a shelf all these years? It is a crimped style AC Delco.

Betcha it's still good.

I agree with Mikey! :thumb

But I'd be cautious. ;squint:

If it has been taken care of- then yes, should be good to go.

Now, if the box looks beat up, a history of moisture, or appears to be someway accelerated in the aging process... I'd say maybe, maybe not.

Age does play into consideration with respect to rubber or synthetic parts- they tend to dry out and rot if not stored properly.

At age 36, the diaphragms and check valves may or may not be ethanol-tolerant; I'd keep a current replacement handy just in case it isn't.

John-

I never even considered that- that is an EXCELLENT point!:thumb

If nothing else- that fuel pump may work okay for a while, but the ethanol will surely eat the soft parts!
