Not for the weak at heart....C5 damage

In that vicinity, I lived in Peru/LaSalle, Springvalley, Geneva, Decatur.....all by the time I was 4...........Dad worked for a bank and they kept him moving.....all the way to Ga.

See ya later.....gotta do the work thing. Have a good weekend!

Thanks 68! Have a great weekend yourself! Tell the wife to be safe!! :)

Chad

PS - I live right next to Geneva...Small world!

68, bet your glad thats behind you. Glad everything worked out for you. Enjoy the ride this weekend!!

Regards, Ed

Thanks Ed, now it's just fighting with the insurance company for diminshed value....

Bumper Covers

How did the new rear and front bumper covers match up with the clips?

Pat

Pat,
Everything looked good.......paint was only 3.5 months old and the car is garage kept so I really didn't have anything to worry about, other than making sure the correct paint was used.
I can't tell the differerence and thats good.

Did you retreive your build sheet from the front crash beam? The factory rolls up the build sheet and puts them in the beam.

The body shop called today to tell me that once the frt and rear bumper covers were removed, additional damage was found.
Based on advice from others here I had to go and investigate. I was very surprised, and shocked, to see my 4 month old car bumperless. I was even more surprised to see the damage caused by a rear end tap that pushed the car into a trailer hitch receiver.
If you are like me and have never seen a C5 naked (at least the frt and rear), there are box beams across the rear and frt that have impact foam attached to them. Let me tell ya, the foam wasn't in bad shape but the beams were. Each one will have to be cut off and new ones welded on. Then she's off the to the frame jig to make sure everything is OK. Some new beams, foam, bumper covers paint, and lights and she should be ready to go.
I've already found someone to handle the "diminshed value" report. It makes me sick to think that I now have a wrecked C5 and what that might do to the value several years down the road.
Oh well, guess the wife will be driving the rented Trailblazer for another week or so....
That is a shame - best of luck with the repair -

Maybe a little surprise will brighten up your day - look inside that front corss member - the original factory build sheet will be rolled up and stuck in there - go retrieve it!

best regards -

[edit] Doh - looks like this was an old thread - sorry - [/edit]

I saw it in there, grabbed it, folded into quarters and all the ink popped off the page like dead skin flaking off a sunburn. Made me mad. Not sure what kind of paper or ink they use but if you bend the sheet the writing disappears.

Now the history is.........history.

Really sorry about the Vette, Did the rite thing going to the dealer, My local GM dealer has an awsome body shop also.Dollar wize it looks expensive, BUT, the real damage dosent look all that bad!!!! Good Luck with the rest of the repair& keep us posted!!!:D
