Hi Guys...looking into a car but confused by the numbers. It's a 1965 corvette. .870 block, block casting code is A275, vin number is 194675s103117, body build date is D18 (it is an AO Smith body, engine pad stamping is 5103117 F0130HH. Does this all jive? I know the engine usually comes before the body, but in this case the body is an AOSmith and sometimes these bodies were made before the engine. What do you think? Please advise if you think this is a matching number car. Thanks..Joe

Nope. The A.O. Smith body build date (11/18) and the car's final assembly date (11/25) at St. Louis make sense, but the engine was cast and assembled in January - wasn't installed in that car originally. Whoever restamped it apparently didn't understand that.
