Can Anyone Explain Why The Dist. And The Wires On Corvettes Are Covered? Does It Serve Any Purpose Other Than Looks.`?
Dave

The early ones used the covers as shielding to prevent radio interference, nowadays it's just for looks.

As Ken said, the shields over the distributor and wires are to prevent radio interference...static, or more commonly "whining" in the radio as you rev the engine.

Metal car bodies block this type of radio noise, fiberglass cars do not, thus the shielding. Big block cars used braided shielding over the wires instead of metal shielding. Chuck
