A quick question of I may. Will this code 28, Auto transmission range pressure switch error. Cause a running engine to stop and then not start again?

I was driving down the freeway, engine shuts off and will not restart. No trans related drivable issues. Just check engine light and this code.

Thanks for any help

The Factory Service Manual for 1992 shows DTC 28 is a Quad-Driver Module (QDM) #3 error. QDM 3 controls the AC clutch and the engine cooling fans.

QDMs are inside the ECM. It is possible that the ECM has failed but that's just speculation on my part. If the ECM died, the engine would not run.

To know for sure you need the 92 Factory Service Manual for its troubleshooting information. Unfortunately, 92 FSMs are out of print so eBay or Faxon Auto Literature in Riverside CA are you only hopes. You may also need a TECH1 or other scan tester which supports pre 1996 GM OBD.

Some familiarity with early 90s Corvette electronics will help, too.
