I am a new member and owner of a 2000 Coupe. I was wondering if anyone has seen the need for a Oil Catch Can. On my search of the forums, I can see very little information except on the installation process.

Has anyone seen the absolute need for one on a stock vehicle?

Thanks in advance.

Unless the car is regularly tracked or road raced, I have not seen a "need" for one on a stock vehicle. Some 1999-2002 vehicles did have oil consumption issues if the driving style included high rpm, low load situations (e.g., putting around town in 2nd). However, GM has their own solution for this problem.

I have a catch can on my 402 stroker, but of course, it's not stock ;) :

BTW, congrats on post #1 and welcome to :CAC

Thanks

Bob,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I thought that the need was for modified engines and wanted to confirm that. As you can well imagine, many retailers suggest getting one if I ask, but they are obviously benefiting from the sale.

This forum is a wealth of knowledge.

Mark,
Not to hijack your thread, but I just have to know- what's the story with that picture in your Avatar. That looks awful! That's not your coupe, is it? :ugh

And, lest I forget my manners, welcome to the :CAC .

The Avatar

Patrick,

I do not have any pictures of my ride, so I searched the internet for one with a few stone chips on it. I thought that a picture as such might put a little chuckle in one's day.

And thanks for the warm welcome.
