1) What is the recommended mileage between oil changes with Mobile One?

2) What is considered an acceptable amount of oil consumption for an LT 4 engine / 95 degree ambient temp / road miles @ 72mph / 30,000miles on engine?

You can always follow the 'change oil' light on the DIC. It usually pops up every 5000 miles or so. I don't however.

Mobile 1 is very good at lasting a long time. 10-12,000 miles doesn't hurt. Some places say it's good to 15,000.

I change the oil in my cars with the 3rd oil filter change and I change oil filters every 3-3,500 miles. So, I'm getting 9,000 + miles out of my oil. I've been doing this a long time. My 92 has 100,000+ and it's doing fine.

Second part, when I had my 96 LT4 car, I never saw more than 1/2 a quart used between oil filter changes. Usually less than that.

That's my 2 cents.

Actually he can't ......cause he's in a pickup truck. If you change your oil and filter every 7500 or so you'll be safe...if yer doin' hway miles.........if not............cut er back a wee toty bit.......say 4 or 5k......of course this is only my opinion.......I'm sure there will be many more and soon, too!! I've never crashed due to oil failure, yet. I'm almost ......well almost.........

oil: once a year, or 6000 mi for me, since I do some highway mileage. I race too.

filter: every 3000, must be done.

Engines are expensive, be cautious.

Wow, lt4 gs: you are right on top of things.....yes , a Corvette LT 4 engine IS in my 2002 S10 Xtreme truck......and it is doing good...Quite an impressive engine. I had never used synthetic oil
in any auto up to this point; therefore I have never changed or heard of changing the filter before changing the oil. Any recommendation on filter brands?

I'm a Fram, guy myself.......Wix probably makes 90% of all the filters to the specs of the branders. However, I might mention here that: If I am gonna dump a filter, which I do at least 3000-4000 miles, I also change the oil...........I personally prefer only(ONLY) Valvoline full Synthetic. In my climate I use 10W30. I have done this on all the LT1's and now the LT4..........never a problem.....I have always started the youngsters at 1000 miles.....just an old habit. I know they are already broken in..........but I have never trusted a factory engineer completely.
Stick around there will be a few more IMHO's.............of that you can be sure. Cheap engine insurance plan>...............dump the awl en the fltr at 3000 miles religiously.......

One of the guys on corvetteforum did a spectroanalysis of dino oil and synthetic after a few thousand miles at his work place where he has access to such a machine. If I remember correctly, dino had broken down around 30%, while the synthetic was down only 3% (?). Anyway, I was impressed and it confirmed my thoughts about the wonderful synthetic....Mobil 1!

Synthetic blends are a less expensive way to go for 3000 mile changes. I drive 10,000 per year, three changes can get expensive with pure synthetic.

All true except:.....the factory does NOT recommend synthetic blended lubes.....and you don't have to change every 3000 miles either....depending on driving conditions.........
