I purchased a brand new 2003 corvette last August. I have approximately 1500 miles on the odometer. I drove the car over the winter, weather permitting. Should the oil be changed immediately, or can I wait. I've heard the oil should be changed every 3 months at the same time other corvette owners have told me I can go up to 3000 miles before changing it since it's new.

Mine is a year round everyday drive so I change the oil every 3K just like the DIC reminds me.

I would change the oil fairly soon after she comes out of hybernation each year.

Mobil Synthetic

I usually remove the original oil and filter between 500 and 1500 miles on a new car.

After that, I change the filter and just the filter between 3-4000 miles for a couple of times. When the third filter change time rolls around, it gets an oil change also. That means I'm putting 9-12,000 miles on my oil and I'm using Mobil 1 in every car. Mobil 1 synthetic has a lot of life in it and I use most of it. I just make sure I change the filter out often enough to keep good filtration of the oil.

It works for me, saves oil money and saves recycling oil. BTW, I did this with my 92 for the last 7-8 years. When the motor was opened up recently (103K miles) for HP improvements, everything looked and measured like new. No ridge in the cylinders and every bearing was replaced with 'standard' bearings.

I change it when the DIC tells me to. Mobil 1 holds up pretty well.

I changed the oil after 1,000 miles break-in period when my car was new. Now I change with Mobil 1 every 5,000 miles, the same time I change my S/C synthetic oil.
