Oil Filter Leaking

I have been having trouble with the oil filter leaking on my 94 LT1. The previous owner told me that an AC Delco PF51 came on the car and he had no trouble with them. Evidently, AC quit making this filter and went to a PF 52. He told me that ever since then the car has leaked oil from the filter. I have tried other brands including K & N and Fram, but they all seem to leak. Has anyone else had this trouble? Thanks

Have you looked up there and seen if perhaps another gasket or a part of one is still up there? I have seen gaskets come apart from the housing before. Or perhaps your mounting plate is damaged.

There are no old gasket pieces and the mounting plate doesn't appear to be damaged.

I'm with JonM on this one. Maybe a closer look will reveal something.

I had this happen on my 89. I looked and looked to see if there was any obvious reason but just didn't see anything wrong. Then, I unbolted the unit and found the reason. The piece that the filter screws up into is held by two bolts. This piece was cracked and allowed the filter to be loose enough to leak. I bought a new piece from Chevy and that fixed it.

Thanks, I'll check it for cracks the next time I take the filter off.

There's an oil temperature switch above the filter ,on the side of the block. Make sure it isn't coming from there and dripping down by the filter.
