I haven't taken the time to really look, but haven't found it with a quick look. Where is the oil filter located on my 02 LS1? Can I get to it without jacking up the car? Also, can you change the filter without changing the oil? Isn't it recomended that you change the filter if you run the oil a long time. Dealer put 10W30 Mobile 1 syn in mine instead of 5W30. I don't guess that's a big deal though.

It's beside the oil "pan" and surrounded by it. It's hard to see by just getting on your knees and looking under the car.

I subscribe to the idea of changing the filter every 3000 miles or so and changing the oil every 9-10K miles. It seems to work just fine as my old 92 w/100+K miles was just torn apart and everything inside was perfect (added cam, heads, intake, so did the bearings and rings at the same time).

I use 10w30 Mobil 1 also. It's not cold enough in OK to justify the 5w30 to me.

With that said, do what you think is best.

I use 10-30 and my oil consumption dropped .
