oil pressure gauge

all gauges in my 79 work except the oil pressure what are the odds that it could be the sending unit

good place to start .but it could also be a bad wire .take a look and see what you got.

Pull the wire off the sender, turn the key on and see what happens. Gauge should go full scale. Then use a 12v testlight between the wire and ground- gauge should go around 1/2 scale. Ground the wire and it should go low scale. That proves the gauge is OK and leaves you with a bad sender.
