Good Looking/Good Sounding Free-Flow Muffler

3" Diameter Chrome Tips

KBD Targa Mufflers give 1984-90 Corvettes a deep and throaty, sensuously powerful sound. In addition, their sleek design improves the look of your car's undercarriage. KBD free-flow mufflers are bolt-on items which hang in the stock location. They are made of heavy gauge steel with chrome tailpipe ends. The KBD mufflers have a 3 year limited warranty. Each set comes with installation instructions

i wasn't too happy with the fit as the hangers didn't line up and were 3" off but after 2 trips to home depot they are mounted. i still have to adjust the rear tips as 1 is 1" off the rear bumper and the other is 3" off so this means i have to drop the whole exhaust from the headers back. what sucked was my dumps were corroded on the rear Y pipe and i had to buy a dremel to cut them off. while i was yanking on them i pulled the damn cat off the front Y pipe. after kicking the snot out of the rear Y pipe is slipped back in till i can get underneath the car and adjust and drop the exhaust i'll fit it back in nice and tight.

i hope these things blow the out and get louder although i sorta like the sleeper sound as i wasted some dude in a modded civic going to the bar to meet some car club friends. if not the dumps are going back on when i get thru emissions until i do the 396 swap this winter.

When my brother went to true duals, he had those mufflers. He felt that he lost performance maybe due to the lack of back pressure? He put canister style mufflers on, and the car pepped right up. If I was to get a front Y with no cats would these mufflers be ok? Thanks

Justin

I wouldn't say you brother lost performance. With so little back pressure; the power curve was probably moved up higher in the RPM's so he didn't feel as much low end power as usual.

Mic, I had those on my '87 a number of years back... My dad also had them on his '91 when he had that a few years ago.

They blow out big time... during the first few months you can actually see the fiberglass popping out at times...

Mic, you need to hear mine now! Yes, it's a lot quieter now that the mufflers are hooked up - but with the PE's open it sounds mean!

Where'd the 396 idea come from?

Are you punching out a small block to the tune of 396 CI, or are you going to do a Big Block shoe horn job?

If you're considering the Big Block route, please take plenty of notes and share it with us.

We wouldn't even think of letting any of the Phord or Mopar guys know what you got under the hood.....
I've thought of doing that but with a son in college, resources are limited.
