I don't have the thingy that goes between the exhaust pipes to the diff. Is it ok to jack each side here? Little triangle area w/ hockey puck.

Yes / no?

Another pic

Should I just put the puck under the "official" jacking point & not worry about the rocker panel. Always afraid it'll mess up the rocker panel.

Another pic.

I just realized that if I've got the front on ramps & both rear wheels up, I'm not blocking any wheel(s). Will it stay on the ramp (small rear lip & larger front lip) until I come down onto jack stands in the rear??????????????

That's exactly where I place my jackstands when I have all four wheels in the air. As a matter of fact, as you may have noticed, you can usually lift both wheels high enough from one jacking point to fit a block of wood or something under the front wheel, then you can get the floorjack under the front crossmember in order to lift both front wheels (that is, if you don't drive it up on the ramps first).

My suggestion for a safe method of raising all four wheels, or rather, lowering the car from all four wheels off the ground: lower the rear of the car first, place the transmission in gear (if manual) and set the parking brake, then place wheels chocks behind each of the rear tires. You can then go around to the front and lower the front end. The front should stay high enough, before you move the car, to remove the floorjack without a need for additional ramping or blocks under the front wheels.

If you do not have the car supported on jackstands at all four corners, and only have jackstands at the rear while the front is supported by the ramps, either you had better chock the front wheels securely, get a helper to hold their foot on the brake, or lower the front of the car first. ;)

I lowered the front first once and did not use chocks and the car started getting away friom me, heading for the garage wall! Luckily I had strength enough to save it before it hit. :o

That's a brave (or foolhardy) person who tries to restrain a car that's "gotten away".

What a dilemma (with a Vette), try to save the car or put your self at risk!

Sears has these floorjacks, see pictures, that go from about 3.5 inches to 21 inches! 25 bucks, 3 ton rating. I bought 2. They are advertised as "suv" jacks (because they go up so high) but I figure they're also perfect for a low car - just to get it up where you have room to work under.

On sale thru Sunday!!

Also 2 pumps to get to the jack point! Semi race jack.

My Sears 2-ton goes higher than my jackstands, now that I've managed to figure out how to add some oil. :L

If you ever run across a manual for a Sears 2-ton, Model: 214.50.112, Serial: 08-90 floorjack, please let me know, or pick it up for me and I'll pay you what it cost. :CAC

_ken :w

I have a manual for a Craftsman 2 1/4 ton Trolly Jack Model # 875.505230

There's not much to it, but I'll scan & attach it (if it works).

What is the width of those front ramps, I have 275's up front and cannot find a wide enough ramp.

Where did you get them?

Mart

Mart:

These (Rhino's)are wider than the ones they sell/stock in pep bay/kragen. For SUV/12,000 lb rated.
Get the price off Kragen web site & bring to a store near you, they'll honor it & you save shipping
