As a newbie I dont feel too bad....where is the fuse box on my 76? I need to check to see if the clock does not work because of a bad fuse!

Thanks,

Chris

it is way up adove the dimmer switch i donot belive its a fuse for they usely
brake the spring in the clock windings

you need to remove the lower steering column cover (only for some additional head room) and then get up under the dash just to the left side of the brake pedal on the firewall. it is usually behind most of the wireing and you will probably have to move some of it out of the way to see it. it is mounted pretty high up on the firewall.

IT would be best if you were a contortionist. I have to literaly sit upside down in my seat with the T-tops off for my feet to stick out. I wish it were under the hood like some newer cars....

Last weekend I replaced the brake booster, high polished billet, this gives a new meaning to "contortionist" I have not bent like that in 20 years, I am 40!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you feel a bit sore the next morning? After I did mine, my back was stiff all the next day. C3's are great for limbering up!

Those (2) nylon nuts at the top, you can not get any higher without punching past the wipers. And the 1/360th turns on the wrench!!! I was sore, but I think it was the buds I had afterward!!!

That's funny! Trust me, it ain't the fuse.

Lol, it's never the fuse. The clock breaks as the original warranty expires. I don't know anyone whose clock works.

Did anyone consider that it's not the clock or fuse...Hmmmmmmm maybe since the clock is relative to time your diving the car to fast....:L

If it was the fuse other things would not work. I assume everything else works. Its usually the clock or the circuit board. Take out the center cluster and see if there is power on the circuit board where the clock mounts. If you have power try to clean up the clock the best you can. Its fairly basic technology.

yeah, but where is the TIMER that goes with the clock to make it stop working?;LOL

Dad has a 72. clock works great. Blew us away when we looked at it and saw it still tickin....We sat there and timed it for about 3 hours (4 or 5 beers) to make sure it was on and yup....it works.

You wanna see "bubba" you should see my pedal spring

Try that at the over 400 pounds I weighed when I bought the heap! Even today at a svelte 300 I put a bunch of fuses in my mouth when I dive under the dash to switch even one....

...but when I was rebuilding everything in the dash I finally addressed the lack of a pedal spring (as bought it had a shop cord wrapped around it and the driver side heater duct!) I could not in anyway imagine pulling the whole brake lever deal to change that axial spring without doing even more than pulling the steering column, so I got "inventive." (Yes the last two phrases a redneck utters ARE "hold my beer" and "watch this!"....)

Sooner than even try that, I drilled a hole through that monster hard pedal lever and ran a direct spring to another hole on one of the column mounts (if I remember - haven't looked lately.) It nuked two drill bits to do that - that is some hardened steel and a half! I now have a brake pedal that actually returns though - and I DIDN'T have to divide in two like an amoeba to do it!
