What year? Records for the earlier cars do not exist, so you will have to rely on original documentation with the car or the tank sticker if it's still there and if what's there is legible. Copies of build sheets have been found tucked in the wiring behind the speedo/tach; in the wiring behind the center cluster; behind either kick panel; tucked in the springs under a seat; and under the carpet in the rear storage area. Some folks are fortunate enough to find copies of build sheets; most of us don't.
For '77 and later cars, you can use the link posted and determine whether Allied-Vaughn has your VIN in their files. If they have your VIN, you can get a copy of the dealer invoice for your car. Allied-Vaughn does not have records for the older cars.
If you have a Bowling Green built car, the National Corvette Museum might have a copy of your build sheet.
The VIN itself will not help with options other than those years where the engine code is part of the VIN (72 and up).
The car will tell you some of the information. VIN will tell you whether the car was originally an L-48 or had an optional engine; trim tag will list the original exterior and interior colors, plus the time/build date. Does the car have what appears to be factory power steering, power brakes, power windows, AC, auto trans, etc. Does the car have what appears to be a factory rear sway bar? Look her over real good and make a list of what you find.
