Here's a question for you NCRS types -

I changed out the original plugs, wires, etc.
3-4 years ago, and for some reason threw
them in a bag for no real good reason, and I
still have them.

When I pulled down the NCRS questionaire
for the recent C4 project, they actually
requested info on a lot of parts that I thought
didn't really matter because they are "disposable".

What is the "value" on these parts as far as
information and is they something I should hang onto?
What about the exhaust, etc. when I change that
out? Just curious.

Rick

Rick, I keep all the OEM parts off my 84 CF and 91 ZR-1. That way if you ever have to go back to all original to please the purists you can. However if I was to sell one of the cars the new owner can cart the junk home with them. If you have the room I say keep em. 84 CF 91 ZR-1

The good news is the corvette community is moving away from the whole purist thing.... More and more people are fixing up cars to the way they want them, and not to NCRS/factory specs... I think this is a good thing, because Corvette owners have more of an open mind to other Corvette owners cars, and don't have that it has to be original mentality. C4's will never be true collector cars IMHO, so drive it and have fun with it.... and if changing something makes you happy... go for it:)

Exactly... Well said

I feel the same way as Vettl83 - do what you want unless you park your Vette in a bubble and it has less than 100 miles or something odd, then go and have fun with the car. I would never let any agency, or club insist that all of my parts are OEM and the genuine thing. Tell him that if GM actually made good parts, then maybe - but you tell me how many people truly have all of the "original" working parts with absolutely no replacements on their vehicle anywhere and then I would refer them to the NCM and the NCRS (were they belong I guess) ----

Maybe I am tainted since my L98 has been so darn modified and bored over and outward :) and has every modification known plus I am running with a rollbar and fuel cell, that I am too far gone to make any difference now when it comes to originality! :)
In any case, make the mods and shoo shoo the NCRS until that really concerns you personally. A C4 with lots of value -- maybe in another 10-20 if you are lucky and if you have a limited edition or production model - but if not ---- HAVE FUN AND GET THE PARTY STARTED! BECAUSE THIS SUCKER IS WAY-2-FAST!! FOR ALL OF THAT STOCK STUFF :L

Yeah my vette's not original cause I replaced the spark plugs ?????????

If you change the exhaust though, it usually worth hanging onto the stock pieces; in case of emissions issues.
